Modern & Theatre Craft

These subjects are taught to all pupils from the age of 3yrs and we follow the IDTA syllabus. Theatre Craft, or Theatre Jazz as we like to refer to it as explores the many different dance styles and music choices that the performing industry has to offer. This genre is fun, exciting and for the older students, the chance we dance in heeled dance shoes has an extra highlight to their lesson.

Modern is a more technique-based subject and pupils will learn to develop many different movements reaching to a broad choice of varying rhythms and musical styles. It incorporates the technical elements of ballet in a more stylised and free way. Modern dance encourages pupils to explore different dynamics and expressive performance styles in their dancing.

Exams can be taken in either or both subjects from Prep through to Advanced 2. 

These classes are a requirement for students wanting to be part of our competitive company.
